HP and Tecan have launched the Duo Digital Dispenser, a system that combines single-cell isolation and reagent dispensing in one unit. According to the companies, the system leverages HP’s inkjet microfluidics and Tecan’s automation platform to reduce dosing times from 10 minutes to 15 seconds—reportedly 40 times faster than conventional methods. The instrument can also isolate single cells in under five minutes, compared to up to an hour using standard protocols.

The device features a single-use disposable component designed to reduce contamination and improve reproducibility. It also enables surfactant-free reagent dispensing, which is highlighted as particularly relevant for biologics workflows.

The Duo Digital Dispenser

Duo builds on the integration of HP’s D300e Digital Dispenser and Uno Single Cell Dispenser technologies. The companies stated that the new platform is intended to improve accessibility of next-generation microfluidics for labs lacking in-house specialization.

HP and Tecan plan to continue co-developing microfluidics and sensing technologies to further expand the capabilities of Duo.
