New Brain Health Clinic Network Combining Care, Research, and AI: Salma Health Launches with $80M

Salma Health has launched as a brain health clinic network backed by $80 million in Series A funding co-led by Mubadala Capital and ARCH Venture Partners. The company says it aims to bring psychiatric, neurological, and research services into a single care model, combining in-person clinics, clinical trials, and an AI-based technology platform. Initial locations are open in San Diego, Orange County, Fremont, and Berkeley, with further U.S. expansion planned.

The Orange County clinic has been named after the late Dr. Nolan Williams, a neuropsychiatrist known for co-developing the FDA-cleared SAINT neuromodulation system for treatment-resistant depression. The company states that it plans to publish outcomes data and contribute to clinical guideline development as it expands.

SAINT is an accelerated, MRI-guided form of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for depression. Like standard TMS, it is noninvasive and uses magnetic pulses to stimulate targeted brain regions, but instead of treatments spread over several weeks, SAINT delivers higher-frequency sessions 10 times per day over five consecutive days. Brain imaging is used to individualize the stimulation target, with the aim of modulating neural networks associated with depression and restoring mood regulation.

In a double-blind randomized controlled trial, 79% of patients receiving active SAINT achieved remission after the five-day course; headache is reported as the most common side effect.

The company is positioning itself as an integrated provider for patients with complex brain health conditions, including depression, OCD, PTSD, anxiety disorders, dementia, Alzheimer’s, migraines, and brain injuries.

Salma Health’s model is built around three components.

First, physical clinics that provide psychiatric and neurological care, including transcranial magnetic stimulation, SAINT neuromodulation protocols, esketamine therapy, psychotherapy, and standard pharmacological treatment. These services are combined with telehealth and structured outpatient programs.
Second, an in-house clinical research unit designed to run FDA-regulated trials in partnership with pharmaceutical and medical device companies.
Third, a proprietary AI-based software platform intended to coordinate care, analyze patient data, and support clinical decision-making through what the company calls a “Brain Health OS.”

According to the company, patients undergo detailed profiling across clinical, physiological, neural, and digital markers. The goal is to use this data to guide treatment selection, monitor outcomes, and detect relapse risk earlier. Salma Health also plans to provide research infrastructure for industry partners, including a HIPAA-compliant data environment to support drug and device development.
